The Wilton Method Course in Cake Decoration

Course 1 - Building Buttercream skills  ( 8 hours)

Course 3 - Fondant and Gum Paste  ( 8 Hours)

This is a fully inclusive course, all equipment, ingredients and tuition are supplied as part of the course fee.

Advance Piping - Completion of the All stars Certificate - Tuesday 27th March 7-9pm

This is the Wilton Method Course in Cake Decoration. It consists of three modules of which each one has its own fully stocked kit for you to use during class and keep at the end of each course. Each module contains a book with full colour photos of everything you will learn and practice in class. The class is suitable for all skill levels. The final class to qualify for the All Stars Certificate is an Advance piping two hour class. On completion you will have achieved your All Stars Certificate.

The course is run by Tracey Mann who is a trained Wilton Instructor. After each course is completed you will receive an industry recognised certificate of attendance.

You will be decorating cakes and cupcakes as part of the class and these are all supplied for you. All you have to remember is an apron.

Course 1

Learn how to decorate cakes and sweet treats with basic buttercream techniques and six simple to pipe flowers that transform ordinary cakes and cupcakes into extraordinary results.

Included is a Wilton Course 1 Kit (worth £41.99) containing a workbook.

This course is a prerequisite for most other Wilton Method Courses. A materials list will be provided once your booking has been confirmed.

Your Certified Wilton Method Instructor will help you each step of the way, as you learn how easy it can be to:

  • Make buttercream icing the right consistency to decorate
  • Fill and use a decorating bag
  • Level, torte, ice and decorate a cake and other sweet treats with the latest techniques
  • Make six different buttercream icing flowers
  • Pipe lines and make simple borders, letters and shapes on your cake
  • Transfer images to a cake to decorate

Course 2

Learn how to create professional-looking flowers and designs made from royal icing. You will develop core skills to make many varieties of flowers, such as rosebuds, pansies, lilies and The Wilton Rose.

Included is a Wilton Course 2 Kit (worth £41.99) containing a workbook and much of the equipment you will use to complete your course.

Your Certified Wilton Method Instructor will help you each step of the way as you learn to:

  • Use royal icing to create eight different types of flowers including The Wilton Rose
  • How to design the colour palette and pattern for a cake
  • Learn piping techniques like basketweave, cornelli lace and brush embroidery
  • Pipe royal icing appliques and additional decorative borders
  • And much more!

Course 3


Included is a Wilton Course 3 Kit (worth £41.99) containing a workbook and much of the equipment you will use to complete your course.

Your Certified Wilton Method Instructor will help you each step of the way as you learn to:

  • Prepare and colour fondant (sugar paste) and gum paste (flower paste)
  • Cover a cake with fondant
  • Create more than 10 different types of bows and flowers, including the calla lily, rose and carnation
  • Discover how easy it is to paint on fondant
  • Design and complete a cake with the shapes and flowers from the course
  • And much more!
